Happy New Year. Here are some recent happenings in my San Diego Interlude. It’s been so long since I’ve written, I’m feeling quite rusty.
An editorial note, since I published last something has gone awry with my blog’s format. I hope you don’t have any trouble with viewing this while I figure it out. Also, at the top of the page, click on the screen size icon (left side of page) to choose the right size for your viewing pleasure.
Thanksgiving weekend took me to Dog Beach in San Diego. It’s near Ocean Beach and fairly easy to get a parking space which counts for lot in OB. It made me miss having a doggie.

I love my ball.

Fun, Fun! That’s a dog out in the waves too.

Uh, I had that ball first! (The middle one has it). Human intervention helped.
A couple friends invited me for lunch at the Prado in Balboa Park, then over to the San Diego Zoo (next door), then back to Balboa Park when the lights came on. A lovely day and evening.

Mama Bear: Bai Yun, happy taking a break from motherhood this year.

Aren’t I beautiful?
City Park was originally created in 1868 with a 1400 acre parcel. The park was renamed to Balboa Park in 1915 and buildings to house the Panama-California Exposition were built. The buildings weren’t meant last 100 years, but you can see that they have and they’re beautiful.

Vasco Núñez de Balboa!

The conservatory.

A New Year’s Day drive, took me out ‘the I-8’ to Mt. Laguna. I was looking for some dark skies to watch the upcoming Quatrantid Meteor shower. However, clouds are moving in for a rainstorm, so I won’t see meteors during this shower.

The bluish shadow is the Earth’s shadow, seen looking east from near the top of Mt. Laguna. This is a panorama that includes three images stitched together.

Looking to the north, beautiful colors all the way around.

The tiny pinpoint of light in the middle is the sun sinking into the Pacific. Although the sea looks fairly close from this vantage point (flat horizon line under the cloud bank), it’s approximately 55 miles away.

I see a spaceship with an X-ray coming out the back!
